Artistic Director of St. Petersburg Opera spoke about the premieres of the upcoming season

ST. PETERSBURG. Not much time is left before the season opens in the popular theater "St. Petersburg Opera", where a series of bright premiere performances is being prepared for the audience. Yuri Alexandrov, artistic director of the collective, told media representatives about what awaits theater fans in the new season.

The season will begin with the premiere of Pietro Mascagni’s opera Rural Honor, staged in an ascetic manner. This work is based on modern reality. Spectators will see the performance in October, and next month the audience will plunge into the bright and luxurious world of Georges Bizet’s opera “Seekers of Pearls”.

Spectators should be surprised by the unique beauty of the design of this performance. With the help of 3-D technologies, butterflies will fly on the stage, flowers will blossom, the atmosphere of a real underwater world will be felt. There are no negative heroes in Pearl Seekers. Love will reign on the scene and there is no room for betrayal and betrayal. In order to bring the opera closer to perfection, the artists are engaged in a French language with a teacher.

Young spectators are waiting for a fabulous story in the opera Iolanta. Yuri Alexandrov promises that this will be a traditional performance, no “new readings” should be expected. There will also be rehearsals of Figaro’s Weddings. According to the director, the performance is complicated, but Mozart is not addressed to the theater for the first time, so it should work out perfectly.

A special place in the plans of the theater is occupied by the play “The Young Guard” that is being prepared for production. In this patriotic fantasy, the motives of the opera of the same name Matus will be used. At its core, this performance is a continuation of the opera production of Crimea, an award from the government of St. Petersburg. "Young Guard" will be presented to the audience next year.
