Moscow will host the festival of Indian cinema

MOSCOW. From September 3 to 6, the Second Festival of Indian Cinema will be held, within the framework of which screenings of the six most striking films of recent years will be held.

The festival opens with a screening of the film directed by Shujit Sirkar. This film, about the adventures of a young woman architect, will become not only the Russian premiere, but also practically world-wide, since before that it was released only in Ireland.

In addition to the picture “Pico”, two more films by this director will be shown at the film forum - these are “Cafe Madras” and “Donor Wiki”. The actors involved in the filming and Shujit Sirkar himself will introduce them to the audience.

The film screening will close by showing a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play Hamlet, a film called Hyder, directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. This year, the Asian Film Academy recognized "Hyder" as the film of the year, and Bharadwaj won the award for best director. The picture will be presented to the audience by the famous Indian actress Tabu, who is familiar to many from the film “Life of Pi”.

In addition, the film premiere will feature Russian premieres of the films “Wedding of Tanu and Manu. Return "and" Let the heart beat. "

The guest of honor of the event will be the Ambassador of India to Russia Pundi Srinivasan Raghavan. Also, the festival will be visited by Indian film actor Dmitry Nagiyev, head of the Mosfilm film studio Karen Shakhnazarov, producer Igor Ugolnikov and others.

In addition to film screenings, a photo exhibition on Indian culture and a roundtable discussion “Russia-Bollywood: Prospects for Cooperation” will be held as part of the film festival.
