New season at Belgrod Drama Theater opens with Pygmalion

BELGOROD. Only two days left for the artists of the Drama Theater. Shchepkina before the first meeting with the audience in the new season. Vitaliy Slobodchuk, the artistic director of the theater, said at a meeting with reporters that the play “Pygmalion” will be the premiere of the season. He noted that for many years the season in the theater opened with performances staged by guest directors.

This year the situation has changed. The production of Pygmalion was directed by Igor Tkachev, the theater’s chief director. However, they could not do without outside help - Andrey Klimov, a production designer from Moscow, was invited to stage the performance. The theater’s deputy artistic director Lyudmila Kondratyeva noted that, despite the complexity of the play’s drama, the performance turned out to be festive and easy.

Lyudmila Valentinovna also spoke about the next premiere, which is being prepared at the theater. This will be a play by the famous Serbian writer Sinis Kovachevic “Serbian Drama”. The director Elena Olenina, already familiar to Belgorod theater-goers in the embodiment of the rock history “Forty-first”, was invited to stage her.

The story told in the play describes sad events, but the play is life-affirming in spirit. Its relevance today is undeniable. In the playbill of the theater, the performance will have a name of the same name with the film shot on this play - “Sons of my brothers”.

Since there is no Youth Theater in Belgorod, the drama theater includes performances for the younger generation of spectators in its repertoire. Two performances intended for young theatergoers appeared on the poster of last season. This season, her one will be added to them - the musical "Canterville Ghost", a fairy tale - "The Adventures of Cipollino" will be ready for the new year. The upcoming season in the theater is anniversary, so the artists have to prepare for the celebration of the eightieth anniversary.
