Oryol Drama Theater. Turgenev moved the celebration of his anniversary to next year

EAGLE. History of the Oryol Drama. Turgenev began in 1815, when for the first time the curtain was raised over the stage of the fortress theater belonging to Count Kamensky. On the curtain was depicted Apollo surrounded by nine muses. The theater was publicly accessible, the city public was eager to attend it. Very quickly he became known throughout the country.

“Not just for fun” - such an inscription appeared above the stage in the middle of the 19th century. This adage is now guided by the theater staff in their work. 200 years have passed since the first performance shown on the stage of one of the oldest Russian theaters.

Over the years, such celebrities as Mikhail Tarkhanov, Mikhail Schepkin, Maria Savina presented their acting skills here to the audience. Spectators admired their game, the names of which each of the schoolchildren now knows - Turgenev, Bunin, Fet, Granovsky and Andreev.

It is a pity that such a significant anniversary in the theater was celebrated only with the premiere of a new performance. Yes, and he played not on his native stage, but in the City Center of Culture. Theater named after Turgenev in 2013 was closed for reconstruction. It is planned that the repair will be completed by the next City Day, when the anniversary of the Eagle will be celebrated. Then the Oryol Drama will invite friends and fans of the theater to a celebration dedicated to its bicentennial.

The temporary absence of their own stage does not prevent theater artists from working to their full potential. At the premiere performance “It was evening”, shown on October 8, the day of the anniversary, the hall was completely filled. The vaudeville, staged by director Ksenia Torska, invited from the city of Seversk, was received with enthusiasm by the audience. A significant role in the success of the production was a wonderful musical score written by St. Petersburg composer Vladimir Baskin
