The victory of Anastasia Novikova. "Conversation" with oneself in the hope of a miracle

LEIPZIG. One of the main prizes of the prestigious documentary film festival was won by Anastasia Novikova’s film “Conversation”.

The jubilee DOK Leipzig was no exception in the series of film forums, which rated the directorial debut of a student at the St. Petersburg Film and TV Institute. A quiet, and therefore even more painful story about a lonely old man from an empty village, ironically called America, trying in vain to get through to his wife who got to the hospital. The picture was approved by the jury of Flahertiana at festivals of various ranks: Flahertiana, DocumentaMadrid, PETERKiT.

The “Golden Pigeon” obtained in Leipzig is doubly honored, since the level of work presented here is always very high. The festival, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and ending its work on November 1, was the first competition in the history of cinema designed to demonstrate and evaluate the best documentaries and animated films. Beyond the deceptive simplicity and artlessness of history - biblical depths, the multi-layered plot becomes, Endless attempts to get through - as a premonition of the possible loss of a loved one. But watching the hero becomes a journey to hope (as was accurately and figuratively formulated at the Spanish festival), which does not leave even with total solitude.
