The film by Swedish director Måns Månsson “Stranded in Canton” has already received a considerable share of compliments at arthouse festivals in different countries. Charming, lively, unconventional. And although the protagonist is a Congolese, and the scene is the Chinese city of Guangzhou, associations stubbornly refer to the last decade of the last century. By the time the familiar landmarks were shot down, white turned black, and it was necessary to survive, earn money, spin. So the African LeBran arrived in China with the goal of cranking up a successful business with the help of cheap t-shirts. An inexperienced businessman was about to profitably push them at the elections in his country. The idea failed and a bunch of rags calling to vote for the already elected president, with his portrait and surname, is only suitable for sending to the trash. And you need to spin, survive, get out.

In the film, reality and fiction, documentary and production shots are fantastically intertwined. Actors and characters from life interact on the screen. Including the main character - Isibango Iko Lebrun (Isibango Iko Lebrun), who does not shy away from politics and business projects. The nuances of a funny and instructive plot make you think. The first to do this was the director of the film, saving himself and the viewer from many illusions. On the screen is a parallel reality in which it is easier for the people of Africa and Asia to adapt and agree with each other without looking at the third component of the Old World. Europeans should think about this.

The cinephiles are eagerly awaiting the premiere of Monson’s new film, The Yard, a film adaptation of the famous novel by Kristian Lundberg. The story of a poet forced to earn a living in the port of Malmö among disenfranchised migrants. This story is autobiographical. Lundberg wrote about working conditions and the attitude of society towards day laborers, based on his own, albeit not very long, experience.
