Results of the summer peacekeeping film school in Tbilisi

TBILISI. In the competition of the international film school of young filmmakers, the picture "Undertaker’s Swing" won.

The borders between the countries that were once part of the USSR are not a hindrance for creative people. Politicians should learn from young filmmakers the desire for mutual understanding and the desire to communicate. One of the main results of the event ended on June 3 can be considered a joint film almanac project. Participants of the current Film School will contribute to its creation.

The main award was won by a picture of Elmar Imanov (Elmar Imanov). “Undertaker’s Swing” is the thesis of an Azerbaijani director who has been living in Germany since 13 and graduated from a film school there. "Swing" is one of the most titled tapes of the competition. Among her numerous awards are the student Oscars from the American Film Academy, and awards at festivals in Russia, the UK, and Croatia. The special prize of the Golden Apricot Film Festival, which was held in 2013 in Armenia, has truly symbolic significance. Artists become real peacekeepers who find a common language in the most tense situation. The main criterion is the quality of the film, and not the nationality of the director who shot it. For the first time since the founding of Apricot, the film of the Azerbaijani director was not only included in the program, but also noted by the jury.

The main storyline of the picture, which won the first prize and deserved the “Special mention of the masters”, is the unbearable complexity of the relationship between the undertaker father and the dying mentally ill son. A similar mention and the second prize was awarded to Tornike Bziava from Georgia, Georgia’s lover of commemoration, about an old man who regularly visits funeral feasts to help him survive. The third prize was awarded to Valeris Olekhno from Latvia for the Pa-Pa film about the long-awaited meeting with his father’s son who had left prison.
