The cause of this problem is hard water and the metal salts it contains. They gradually settle on the surface of the toilet walls, resulting in the formation of a serious layer of dirty gray deposits. Also, repeated drains and failure of the tank lead to limescale - this accelerates the deposition of calcium salts, and, accordingly, limescale deposits. The problem is serious, especially if you take into account the possibility of gradual blockage of the pipe, and then you will have to partially replace the pipes.

What will help? The best thing you can do is to follow the rules of hygiene - flush the toilet thoroughly, clean it on time and periodically.

Urine stone

You can often notice brownish mineral deposits on the surface of the toilet bowl. Unpleasant, I would like to avoid such problems. This is achieved through simple and timely hygiene - rinse well using strong water pressure. As the cleaners explained to me, it is often the reason for the insufficient water pressure during flushing that later leads to plaque. Therefore, it is important to monitor this; if there is such a problem of weak water flow during flushing, it is necessary to neutralize it.

So, it’s good when all the necessary cleaning procedures are carried out on time, but what to do if plaque has already formed? How to effectively eliminate it? I’ll say right away that it’s better not to use a metal brush; there’s too much risk of ruining the enamel coating without the possibility of restoring it later. And also an important fact - old plumbing is much more susceptible to the appearance of limestone, because over time its surface becomes porous. Therefore, at the end of their service life, the toilet and other plumbing equipment must be replaced.

And now I will share effective recipes for combating old pollution:

Traditional methods

Vinegar combined with soda

Minor plaque can be treated with 20% vinegar and soda.

Mix half a pack of baking soda with water to a paste-like consistency.
Using a sponge, apply this mixture to the surface of the toilet bowl - from the outside and inside.
Particular attention should be paid to the area under the toilet rim.
The remaining cleaning composition is poured into the drain hole.
Then take two glasses of 20% vinegar and apply it on top of the previously treated area. The remains are also sent to the drain.

Alkaline and acidic components quickly react with plaque and rust, destroying them. After 10 minutes, residual contaminants are removed with a brush and washed off. The procedure can be repeated if required.

Salt and acetic acid

To remove urinary stones, you will need 1.5 cups of 9% vinegar and half a teaspoon of salt.

The vinegar needs to be slightly heated.
Add salt to it.
This mixture is applied to the surface of the toilet from the inside and left overnight with the lid closed.
The next day, remove any remaining dirt and wash it off.

Baking soda

This ingredient, which is found in any kitchen, effectively combats the consequences of urinary stone deposits. What do we have to do:

Free the drain from water. For convenience, you can use a special syringe.
Sprinkle baking soda liberally into the drain hole and under the toilet rim. It’s better to leave it like this for a day, or at least overnight.
After the time has passed, you need to clean the treated surface with a brush and rinse off the remaining soda and dirt with water.

Concentrated acetic acid

To do this, choose a 70% solution. Follow the algorithm:

Heat 200 ml of vinegar to 40 degrees with the lid of the container closed.
Next, pour the prepared liquid into the drain and cover the toilet. Leave it overnight.
After the allotted time, run a brush over the treated area and rinse.

Lemon acid

The product copes well with plaque and also eliminates unpleasant odors. To prepare a cleaning solution, take 300-400 grams of lemon acid per 10 liters of water.

Remove water from the drain tank and turn off the water in it.
Pour the resulting mixture into the tank.
Wait 3 hours, wait for the tank to fill, then flush from the drain.
Treat with a brush.

You can also apply wipes with the solution to the area under the headband for 9 hours. After the time has passed, everything is washed thoroughly.

Cola

Yes, this is an unusual toilet cleaner. However, it works because Coca-Cola contains phosphoric and citric acids, which destroy contaminants such as limescale and urinary stones. So:

Pour one and a half cola into the toilet.
Clean with a brush or brush.
Rinse with water.

If you are not satisfied with the result, you can repeat it.

Mustard

Mustard powder is good both for washing dishes and for cleaning plumbing fixtures. Everything is very simple:

Take 40 grams of dry mustard and mix with 80 grams of potato starch, add about 60 grams of citric acid.
Mix with water to form a paste.
Press the flush button and apply the prepared slurry to the moistened surface of the toilet. Leave for 30 minutes.
Rinse with water.

Products using improvised products, of course, cope with the task quite well, but there is not always time to prepare them. As an alternative, there are special household chemicals, For example:

Sanfor line. Available in both gel and liquid form. In addition to the fact that these compositions have proven themselves well in the fight against old traces of urinary stones, limescale, and mold, they are also good in the matter of disinfection.
Toilet duck. A well-known product for maintaining the cleanliness of porcelain, earthenware, and ceramic surfaces. Also suitable for fighting germs. Eliminates rust, soap stains, plaque.
Silit Bang. The action of the product is fast and effective. Cleaners often use it in their work. Copes with all the problems listed above, adds shine and cleanliness to surfaces, and leaves a pleasant smell of freshness.
Bref. Eliminates yellow plaque and lime deposits. It has a wide range of aromas, perfectly refreshes, eliminates unpleasant odors.

Things to remember when working with cleaning products

Operate only with long rubber gloves. If you don’t want to get your clothes dirty, wear an apron.
When using aggressive chemical compounds, wear special goggles and a mask or respirator so as not to harm your eyesight and respiratory organs.
The skin and mucous membranes can also be damaged, therefore, if the substance gets on exposed skin or eyes, immediately rinse them with plenty of water.
When cleaning a bathtub or toilet, provide yourself with a sufficient flow of fresh air.
It is better not to mix caustic chemicals - the reaction may be unpredictable.
