EXLANTIX ET is a large hybrid crossover with an on-board generator.
The EXLANTIX ET is a mid-size premium crossover SUV manufactured in China. Its key technical feature is its sequential hybrid (EREV) system: electric motors power the wheels in all modes, while the gasoline engine functions as a generator and powers the battery. In the domestic market, the model is also sold as a pure electric vehicle. Export versions are almost always hybrid.
In terms of dimensions, this is a large five-seater: 4955 mm long, 1975 mm wide, 1698 mm high, and a 3000 mm wheelbase. The curb weight, depending on the trim level, ranges from 2140 to 2380 kg. The model is built on an electric platform shared with the sedan of the same line, and shares the same wheelbase.
Where did the model come from?
The EXLANTIX ET crossover was unveiled to the public in April 2023 at the Shanghai Auto Show. The new lineup, which includes the ET, was also unveiled there. The interior was later unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show in the fall. Serial production began in January 2024, pre-orders opened on April 15, and sales began on May 9. In the 24 days leading up to the official unveiling, the car had received 18,397 reservations.
The first export model rolled off the assembly line on January 8, 2025. By that time, the plant had announced plans to expand to approximately 20 countries by the end of 2025. For export markets, the body was modified: the exterior panels were made of aluminum, and a reinforced anti-corrosion coating was added to the underside. The package is designed for harsh winters, including those in Russia.
Design and ergonomics
Exterior
The front end is stripped of the traditional radiator grille; export models have a set of vertical chrome strips and a wide air intake with horizontal slats instead. The headlights are split: the main lights are on top, and the fog lights are on the bottom. In the Chinese version, an array of 180 LEDs is positioned between them, capable of displaying short images and text to onlookers. The rear light strip consists of 262 LEDs.
The aerodynamic drag coefficient of the body is 0.26.
The door handles are retractable, and the doors themselves are frameless. Top-of-the-line versions have 20-inch wheels. Chinese-built models featured a roof-mounted lidar sensor for driver assistance systems, while export models lacked it.
Salon
In front of the driver is a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, the image from which is mirrored on a 23-inch head-up display. A 15.6-inch touchscreen with a 2.5K resolution is located in the center. The climate control system has three zones, and the cabin heating is powered by a heat pump. Between the seats, there’s space for two wireless chargers and cup holders, and the glove compartment opens with a push button.
The front-row seats are heated, ventilated, and massage-controlled, while the passenger seat reclines. The rear seatbacks are electrically adjustable. The audio system has 23 speakers. The trunk holds 546 liters, increasing to 1,835 liters with the seatbacks folded down. Electric models also have an additional 60 liters of storage in the front. Double-glazed windows and a 2.38 m² panoramic roof extend above.
Power plant with generator
The acronym EREV stands for "extended range electric vehicle." The concept is simple: a gasoline engine turns a generator, the generator powers a battery and electric motors, and the electric motors turn the wheels. There is no direct mechanical connection between the internal combustion engine and the wheels in any mode. Even on the highway, at high speeds, traction remains electric.
The generator is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with direct injection and Miller cycle operation. The compression ratio is 14.5:1, and the claimed peak thermal efficiency reaches 44.5 percent. Output is 115 kW at 5,200 rpm and 220 Nm of torque. The aluminum block allows for a reduction in weight.
The all-wheel drive version features two electric motors: the front one produces 150 kW, the rear one 195 kW. The combined output reaches 345 kW, equivalent to approximately 469 horsepower, with a claimed torque of 634 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.8 seconds, and the top speed is 195 km/h. Average combined fuel consumption is 6.4 liters per 100 km, and the fuel tank holds 67 liters.
The traction battery is a lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a capacity of approximately 41 kWh and a 400-volt architecture. On a single charge, the crossover travels 200 km (124 mi) according to the WLTP standard or 240 km (158 mi) according to the Chinese cycle. The total range with a full tank is 1,300 km (812 mi) according to the WLTP standard and up to 1,500 km (932 mi) according to the CLTC standard. The Russian specification lists a range of 1,180 km (708 mi). Peak DC charging power is approximately 107 kW, and charging from 20 to 80 percent takes approximately 17.5 minutes.
The rear-wheel-drive hybrid version is offered with a smaller battery capacity of approximately 32 kWh. It accelerates more slowly to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 7.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). The all-electric range is 109 miles (161 km) according to the WLTP.
The hybrid can also radiate energy: the on-board power outlet delivers up to 3.3 kW, while pure electric cars can reach a higher 6 kW. This is enough power for a kettle, a heater, and a laptop at a picnic or at the dacha.
Chassis and drive
The suspension is a classic design for this class: double wishbones in front and a multi-link design in the rear. An air suspension with electronically controlled damper stiffness is available as an option. The ride height can be adjusted by up to 100 mm, with seven preset positions available. Above 120 km/h, the electronics automatically lower the car to its lowest point to reduce drag and improve stability.
The drive to both axles is fully electric, with no driveshaft. The electronic traction control system responds in less than 0.05 seconds. According to factory measurements, the combination of air suspension and controlled shock absorbers reduced body dive by 30 percent and roll by 20 percent.
All-electric versions
In China, the model is also sold without a gasoline engine. The base version features a 77 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery and an 800-volt architecture: charging from 30 to 80 percent takes nine minutes. The rear motor produces 230 kW, offering a local range of 625 km (385 mi), and acceleration from 0 to 100 km (62 mph) takes 6.4 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive version adds a 123 kW front motor and accelerates in 4.7 seconds. Top-of-the-line models feature a 100 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery and a more powerful 183 kW front motor, bringing the total output to 413 kW and reducing acceleration to 3.8 seconds. The range reaches 760 km. At -20 degrees Celsius, charging from 20 to 80 percent takes 24 minutes.
Security and Markets
In 2025, the crossover passed the European crash test program. Adult protection was rated at 90 percent, child protection at 85 percent, pedestrian protection at 76 percent, and the electronic safety assist systems scored 79 percent. A year earlier, the Chinese test program awarded the model an overall score of 86.4 percent.
The car was unveiled in Russia in September 2024, but sales were delayed for additional winter testing, with the launch taking place in the spring of 2025. Initial prices ranged from 6.7 to 7 million rubles, and the body was offered in four colors. The multimedia and navigation systems were adapted for the local market, and the car receives over-the-air updates. The updated 2026 crossover was already priced at around 7 million rubles.
In 2024, 19,465 units were sold in the domestic market, 15,297 of which were hybrids. In January 2025, the all-wheel-drive hybrid version was named "Car of the Year" by the China National Television Awards, with the jury praising its powertrain, all-wheel drive, and driver assistance systems.
