Is it possible to place a water heater on the floor?

Modern water heaters are easy to operate and relatively economical. The traditional placement option involves fixing the equipment to the wall. But there is the possibility of using a water heater as a floor structure.

Is floor installation possible?

The installation option largely depends on the capacity of the device. A compact water heater with a capacity of up to 100 liters is available in wall-mounted structures. This model should not be installed on the floor, as it is small in size and weight. Manufacturers produce designs for vertical and horizontal mounting.

Boilers with a volume of 150 liters or more are not recommended to be hung on the wall due to their heavy weight. Installing a large volume boiler on the floor is one of the simplest and safest solutions. If a structure of significant weight is completely filled, it is better not to attach it to the wall, since additional reinforcement will be required, and the structure will pose a danger to the load-bearing elements and human health.

Floor installation of the boiler is carried out on special supports or without them, if the bottom has a perfectly flat surface. Simply connect the device to the plumbing system and plug it into an electrical outlet.

Features of floor-standing boilers

Underfloor heating water heaters can be installed anywhere with access to running water and electricity. A separate room will be required only for large models with a volume of more than 200 liters.

Floor-standing boilers have the following advantages:

• no specialist assistance required during installation;
• functional models can be customized by adding the necessary options;
• safe and comfortable operation;
• Autonomous use is possible without connection to a heating boiler.

Note! When choosing an installation location, not only the nearest location of the water intake point is taken into account. An important point is the choice of a room protected from freezing temperatures and excessive humidity.

Types of floor water heaters

The main difference between all types of tanks is volume. Tanks of less than 100 liters are classified as kitchen tanks. The main purpose is to designate water for domestic use. The equipment is often installed under the sink in a base cabinet. Autonomous devices weighing more than 100 liters are mainly installed in the bathroom or in a specially designated room.

One of the most functional are indirect heating water heaters. The system heats the liquid thanks to already heated water. The latter is taken from the central heating system, which reduces gas or electricity costs.

Water heaters with a maximum water storage capacity are safer in a floor-mounted design. The design is characterized by simple installation and minimal installation work. It is enough to choose a warm room with the nearest water intake point.
