1st International Literary Festival in Odessa (MLO) Automatic translate
From October 1 to October 4, a non-trivial and important event for the intellectual community will take place - the 1st International Literary Festival in Odessa (MLO). Authors from 14 countries will read their works and discuss. Entrance for listeners is free.
The aim of the festival is to emphasize the cultural influence of Odessa and the multiculturalism of this city, as well as to strengthen the ties of Odessa with other cultural metropolises of Europe and the world.
This is reflected in the program of the festival, which pays attention not only to Eastern European topics and the Black Sea region as a whole, but - like the festivals of Hans Ruprecht and Ulrich Schreiber in Switzerland and Berlin, will be truly international. Planned performances of authors from Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, France, Canada, USA, Mexico and India.
During the festival, in addition to literary readings, discussions will be held on political topics dedicated to Europe, as well as to other countries of the world.
The festival will be held in two languages - texts of foreign authors will be read in the original language and in Ukrainian translation. Discussions will be accompanied by simultaneous and consecutive translations. The main part of the program will be held at the Odessa Literary Museum.
The section "International Children and Youth Literature" will present the authors and their books on Thursday and Friday, October 12, in Odessa schools.
The organizers will seek to integrate MLO into the existing regional literary communities, including festivals in Lviv, Chernivtsi and Iasi (Romania) and the Kiev Book Arsenal, and to international cooperation with other international literary festivals as part of the Word Alliance.
The festival will be supported by the Odessa organizing committee.
