On December 2, within the framework of a solo exhibition, Anna Kazhdan will present paintings and art objects from different years, united by a common theme of joyful anticipation of the holiday.

Kazhdan is a master of crowd scenes, folk festivals, festive round dances, magical carnivals and children’s games. The artist’s favorite color is all shades of blue. For her, it symbolizes not only the sky, but also a certain state of mind - cozy happiness and joy.

“And although the world sometimes shows us its aggressive edges, you can defend against them. At the very least, draw what pleases the eye. And pass it on to others so that they too rejoice. I draw elements of folklore because I definitely notice all this folklore today. New Year’s fair, saleswomen in felt boots rolled the ice and competed in a race to see who would ride faster. Subconscious memories unite my viewers. The reality that I see and try to convey with the help of paints comes from childhood. "

Anna Kazhdan worked on illustrations for books of poetry, and also created graphic sheets for calendars; created posters and illustrations for textbooks in the field of environmental education for the public organization "Oseko", designed the covers of children’s magazines "Okno", sketches for New Year’s gift cards and coffee sets made of porcelain commissioned by the firms "Nestlé" and "Avielen". She participated as an illustrator in the development of a corporate New Year’s style for the GUM store and the Bosco company in 2009.
