On December 1, the Museum of Moscow starts the New Year’s programs festival "Christmas Bazaar", which includes four museum trees with master classes and gifts and six festive performances - "A Christmas tree was born in the forest", "Emily Brown and her rabbit. Participants of this event will first see a fabulous performance that reveals the secret of the birth of Santa Claus, talk to his main character in person, and then create a New Year’s souvenir as a keepsake.

WONDERFUL Christmas tree

A festive museum program from the "Impressive Clownery" project, the participants of which will unpack the gifts hidden in an old chest, and then see how the events unfolded around the famous New Year tree at the play "A Christmas tree was born in the forest."

Nutcracker and Mouse King

Participants will get acquainted with the writer Ernst Hoffmann and his fairy tale "The Nutcracker", look at the magic diorama created by the studio’s artists, visit the carnival costume workshop, transform into the heroes of the work and arrange a real New Year’s parade of shadows.

Christmas stories about Moscow and Muscovites

The participants of the festive event will travel to Moscow during the times of the writer and journalist Vladimir Gilyarovsky to find out what the festive city looked like, how they lived, what they did and how Muscovites prepared for Christmas. The museum program includes a quiz with game and creative tasks and a master class on creating a Christmas star.

A story filled with love for home and family. On an ordinary morning, the main character, a twig from a tree, goes for a run, not suspecting which way he will have to go in order to get back. Fire, water and copper pipes await him ahead. All the scenery and characters in this story are hand-made by the actress and director Olga Gulevich. The performance includes the music of Saint-Saens, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Tariverdiev, as well as Grigory Pozhenyan’s poem "The Tree" performed by actor Timofey Tribuntsev. At the end, the audience will become participants in a master class, where, with the help of magic plasticine, the simplest twigs and sticks will come to life and turn into Chelovekina.

On the stage, spectators will be waiting for two clowns who wake up in their house and decide to play out a story about a Christmas tree. The tights will become bunny ears, the green blanket will become the crown of the tree. Thanks to the simple plot, we will focus all our attention on interacting with the artists. Let’s feed the hare, drive away the evil wolf and dress up the Christmas tree, which one of the performers has become. Then we’ll dance around her and go to bed until next New Year.
