January 15, 2019 in the exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow, Prechistenka, 21), an exhibition of works by honored artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Tatyana Sergeyevna Shikhirareva “Epoch. Plot. A person". About 40 works made in the technique of batik, tempera painting, painted wooden sculpture transfer the viewer into the space of the author’s fantasy.
Tatyana Shikhireva was born in Baku in 1949. In 1971 she graduated from the Moscow Technological Institute (Department of tissue decoration), where her teachers were Ye.K. Kovalenko, V.N. Petrov-Kamchatsky, Yu.M. Redhead. Since that time, her active artistic and social activities began.
Today, Tatyana Sergeevna is one of the leading contemporary masters of decorative art, working in the technique of hot batik. She is a participant in Moscow, Russian, foreign and international exhibitions, including exhibitions in Paris (UNESCO), Delhi, Norway, Germany, Indonesia and other countries. Her works are in private collections in Spain, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark. Refined color constructions, impeccable artistic taste, special romanticism of the imaginative structure, characteristic of the artist’s works, earned her well-deserved recognition from professionals and a wide audience.
The work of Tatiana Shikhireva is a world of fairy tales, fantasies, filled with “heroes” invented by her. They are original and unique in their artistic embodiment, which allows us to speak about the integrity of the artistic vision of the author. Working in his own unique manner of performance, the artist creates something similar to a theatrical performance, a carnival event in which scenes of dreams and dreams, dreams, are played out. Careful, one can say the jeweler’s execution of the painting, the varying variety of the smallest details make it possible to classify each work as unique with all their obvious stylistic similarities.
Giving preference to her favorite materials - batik, tempera - she creates works that are inspired by heroes from different eras: this is the time of Peter the Great with court etiquette and entertainment balls, the medieval world with its cult of the Beautiful Lady, the earlier Renaissance and the time of the “gallant genre”. In them, the images of dolls, puppets convey the author’s emotional outlook, the emotional response of her heart.
Among the original author’s decisions of T. Shikhirevoi is the framing of works in old wooden “window frames”, giving depth to the image. In this, she sees a peculiar artistic device for combining painting on a plane and plastic beginning, enclosed in an ornamental thread. Wood carving according to Shikhireva’s sketches is performed by N.S. Kononchuk. Their joint activities were developed in the creation of painted wooden sculpture, organically associated with the textile creations of Shikhireva.
The world of theater, fairy tales, full of light irony, good humor appears in the works of the master, who made up the exhibition in the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts.
