Erarta Museum of Modern Art opens an exhibition of paintings and ceramics by Honored Artist of Russia Ivan Tarasyuk.

His work is widely known in Russia: the number of personal exhibitions of Ivan Ivanovich exceeded 70, and many years of work at the Imperial Porcelain Factory contributed to the spread of his artistic images around the world.

In painting, the masters are inspired by crowded streets filled with theater halls or stadiums, passengers of public transport. He portrays contemporaries, the movement of the city, but does it with a certain degree of conventionality - the artist creates works that will not lose value even after centuries. The author is sure that at any historical stage a person remains a person, and it is precisely on him that the artist’s focused look is directed.

The most important creative principle of Ivan Tarasyuk is loyalty to himself. With amazing stubbornness, he deals with his own topics, does not look back at colleagues, fashion for conceptual art, digital aesthetics or social problems.

The artist is looking for perfect harmony for his characters - sets them up for further understanding in different techniques. Here, creativity is likened to an artist close to the spirit of the elements of jazz with endless play of harmonies, the art of interpretation and spectacular solos on different instruments. Each picture of Tarasyuk is a kind of jazz improvisation when you hear the familiar and expected, but always new.

Many of the works of Ivan Tarasyuk carry the atmosphere of urban melancholy, which shines through the restrained colors and faces of the characters. His hero - an impersonal townsman mask or artist mask - is never fully revealed to the viewer. Such ambiguity of the situation sheds light on the mysterious author’s name of the exhibition - "There are things of a dual nature."

The exposition will be located on the 4th floor of the Exhibition wing of the Erarta Museum and will be open to visitors from December 8 to January 22, 2018.
