Photo exhibition "Pandas from Jaani around the world"

This winter, one of the main holiday locations in Moscow was the festival of Magic Chinese lanterns in Sokolniki Park. The inspiration for him was the oldest Chinese tradition (over 2000 years) to hold the Lantern Festival on the last day of the two-week Chinese New Year. In its hometown in Zigong, the festival of Magical Chinese lanterns was recognized as an object of intangible cultural heritage of national importance. One of the central figures in Sokolniki Park was the Chinese pandas, whose homeland is considered to be the Chinese city of Ya’an, popularly called the "wet city".

The tandem of Chinese lanterns and pandas allowed festival organizers to come up with a series of light installations in which pandas play a key role. For example, at the festival, viewers can get acquainted with a panda with a golden boat in its paws and the signature Yaan "fat man" in a hat. These installations carry the Chinese flavor and introduce the Russian viewer to the landscapes that are native to pandas. And, of course, pandas are one of the main characters of the festival, because every visitor of the event wants to take a photo with a “fat man”.

Ya’an is the first in the world in the number of pandas discovered by scientists. This is the only city where the procedure for detection, protection, reproduction, sterilization, and then release to the will of pandas takes place from beginning to end. The number of pandas living here in their natural habitat reaches 340 individuals, and over many years more than 130 pandas have been sent abroad. By the way, on April 29, 2019, the pandas Zhu-i and Ding-din went from Chinese Yaan to Russia and became the stars of the Moscow zoo, receiving an unusually warm welcome from the Russian audience.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Pandas from Yaani around the world”, the parents of the pandas Zhu-i and Ding-din will introduce the Russian viewer with the vast tourist and cultural resources of the pandas’ homeland, the city of Yaan, using presentation video materials. The Yaan Yuli Travel Products Exhibition will present guests with soft panda toys, Pandovian wine, Pandovian tea and much more. At the event, spectators will be able to enjoy the exclusive Chinese artistic program: the “Transfiguration of Faces” numbers from the Sichuan Opera, the “art of flexibility” (Chinese dances and circus art) will be presented, and the presentation of the special tea technique “Lunhan Shibashi” and the opportunity to personally try real Mandining mountain tea.

G. Ya’an is an important ecological zone in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and has significant water resources for irrigation of soils, so ecology has always been in the first place for the city. In addition to pandas, Ya’an is also known to the world by the ancient tea path "Kam", thus being the cradle of the tea culture of the world. This trade route, which for thousands of years passed through Sichuan and Tibet, began precisely in Jaani. Ya’an is a city in which ecology, culture and tourism have merged into one. Life here is full of a sense of freedom, and therefore insanely exciting.
