November 7th. Who is who at the forefront of Moscow?

The architectural life of Moscow in the 1920s is a motley picture, which is not easy to understand. Who are constructivists, and how do they differ from rationalists? Were Melnikov a constructivist? What do Lenin’s Mausoleum and Kazan Station have in common? In this lecture we will learn about the main characters of avant-garde architecture and we will figure out how to call it correctly so as not to get into a mess.

November 14th. Great dreamers of the avant-garde.

One of the main legacies of the Soviet avant-garde is fantastic ideas. Capsule housing, horizontal skyscrapers, revolving houses, flying cities - all these projects, impossible during the time of the avant-garde, inspired architects of the 20th century and continue to influence minds until now. In this lecture, we charge ourselves with the ideas of architects of the 1920s and understand how they were realized in the modern world.
