On April 13, a showcase exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic flight into space opens at the Museum of Moscow. In 1961, he became the first person to see Earth from space.

After this memorable day for the whole world, millions of people started talking about the future development of the Universe. Inspired by the new perspectives, musicians, poets and artists dedicated their works to new heroes - astronauts. For many years, space has become the main creative idea of our country. He found his reflection in the history of Soviet arts and crafts.

The architect Abram Skidalsky, delighted with the successes of Soviet cosmonautics, created a series of wooden toys-cosmonauts, which then went into mass production. They were sold in Moscow gift and souvenir shops. Now they are in the collection of the Museum of Moscow and will be displayed in a window.
