"Caprichos" Goyas and masterpieces of great painters "sound" in the center of Moscow

Charitable Foundation for the Promotion of the Development of Musical Culture "Belcanto" opens the new season of the project "Sounding Canvases" Famous paintings by painting classics, impressionists, avant-garde artists will come to life to the sound of music and singing of the best choirs under the arches of the Pushkin Museum, the Mansion on Volkhonka, Peter and Paul Cathedral in the center of Moscow.

In the spring, a project of 50 concerts will cover the 10 best venues in the capital, the first of which will be the Pushkin Museum: the concert “Sounding Canvases by Francisco Goya” will be held in the Atrium on March 3. Spectators will see a grandiose collaboration: “Caprichos” by the great Spanish artist and the stage cantata “Carmina Burana” by Karl Orff. A music masterpiece from the beginning of the 20th century will be performed by the A. Yurlov State Academic Choir of Russia under the direction of Honored Art Worker of Russia Gennady Dmitriak. The program also includes a performance by Antonio-orchestra under the direction of conductor Anton Paisov. The soloists of the concert are Anna Galushchenko (soprano), Sergey Silakov (tenor) and Anton Varentsev (baritone).

“By our project we give the listener and viewer the opportunity to see how long the familiar great canvases sound musically and what deep color subtexts are hidden in musical scores. In the new season, Belkanto makes even more unexpected and bold roll calls: Goya - Orff, Van Gogh - Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky, Bosch and Chagall - Ravel, Van Gogh - Piazzolla, Goya - Wagner. But our listener is ready for experiments and is waiting for them, ”explained Tatyana Lanskaya, artistic director of the foundation.

The Belcanto Foundation’s Sounding Canvases project has been familiar to listeners for several years. However, in the new season, well-known programs will be changed. So, the concert “Marc Chagall”, in which the duduk, organ and saxophone sound, will complement the performance of the guslars. The program “Francisco de Zurbaran” with an organ and a guitar will appear on the poster, and in addition to a duduk and organ, a concert of hang-drama and sitar will be included in the concert with Nikolai Roerich’s canvases.

During March, the Foundation will present 10 concerts in the series “Sounding Canvases”. The works of Leonardo da Vinci, Marc Chagall, Michelangelo, Titian, Nicholas Roerich, Francisco de Zurbaran, Cezanne, Manet, Renoir, Aivazovsky, Goya, as well as a whole galaxy of impressionists come to life to the sounds of organ, orchestras, choirs and folk instruments. Some of the programs will be complemented by sand and water animation of Lilia Chistina and Anna Klykovskaya.
