This event is a new chapter in the development of close relations between the Louis Vuitton Foundation and the Pushkin Museum. A. S. Pushkin. The beginning of cooperation was the exhibition “Masterpieces of new painting. Collection of Sergei Schukin, which was held with great success at the Louis Vuitton Foundation (Paris) in 2016-2017. As a response gesture in the summer of 2019, the Louis Vuitton Foundation’s collection will be presented at the Gallery of Art of Europe and America of the 19th and 20th Centuries, including works by Alberto Giacometti, Yves Klein, Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke, Christian Boltansky, Andreas Gursky, as well as artists of the younger generation, such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, Matthew Barney, Takashi Murakami, Pierre Yuig, Cheng Yang and others. Particular attention at the exhibition will be given to the personality of Bernard Arnault, president of the LVMH group of companies and a passionate collector of contemporary art.

The exhibition of the collection of the Louis Vuitton Foundation will be held simultaneously with a large-scale exposition dedicated to the Schukin brothers, which will be located in the main building of the museum. These two exhibitions of iconic collections - Sergei Ivanovich Schukin and Bernard Arnaud - will help Moscow audiences to trace the similarities and differences in approaches to the formation of collections, will demonstrate the evolution of approaches to collecting contemporary art in the early XX and XXI centuries. And at the same time, they will become clear evidence of the inextricable connection of different generations of collectors of contemporary art.
