On July 28, the Bogorodskoye Gallery of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association opens an exhibition of street art "Cultural Fresh No. 2" codenamed "Cultural Layer". Actively working street art artists will change the space of the gallery beyond recognition through graffiti, stickers and art objects.
Outlying, it would seem, Bogorodskoye district, from the point of view of street art, was not outlying for a long time. A few years ago, not far from the Belokamennaya MCC station, abandoned houses with the works of Pasha 183, a street artist known in Moscow, Russia and the world, were preserved. The walls around his works were constantly replenished with new graffiti and it was incredibly interesting to follow their change. The abandoned houses were demolished, but interest in the culture of street art remained. Such a "historical" context has become a solid basis for a new exhibition at the Bogorodskoye Gallery.
Guest curator Nekto Ada has developed a concept designed to introduce the unprepared viewer to the culture of graffiti, and to give adepts of the movement an opportunity to look at the work of street artists from a different angle. The exposition will include both finished works (canvases, graphics, photos, objects, etc.) and examples of street art inscribed in the gallery space (graffiti, tags, bas-reliefs, stickers…). The exposition will bring together artists of different styles who are active at the moment.
The concept of the exhibition is directly related to the peculiarities of street art – it is multi-layered and this is a direct consequence of the specifics of interaction with the city. Facade - graffiti - gray rectangle buff from utilities - tag on top… There can be many such layers in the city. It was this idea that formed the basis for the design of one of the halls: some of the work in it will be done directly in the gallery on rolls of paper, transparent film, banner mesh, as well as on various objects taken from the streets (drainpipe, road signs and cones, etc.). P.). The second hall will show the finished works of artists, telling about the culture of graffiti, about the interaction of artists with the city and about the possibility of interaction between street artists and the space of the gallery.
Exhibition end date is approximate.
