The Museum of Russian Impressionism presents a new format - a lecture series. These are stories about famous artists and their works. The season will be opened by the French impressionists. In just three lectures you will learn all about your favorite direction in art. Lecturer - Anna Vladimirovna Poznanskaya (Ph.D. in art. Senior researcher at the Department of Art of Europe and America of the XIX – XX centuries of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts) in his speeches will give answers to the main questions: where did Monet and the company come from? What happened in the culture of the nineteenth century and which artists set the stage for the rise of modernism? How did the impressionists differ from each other and why did their group last only 12 years? Who are post-impressionists and why are they called that?

November 21. The origins of impressionism. Where did the impressionists come from, how life and art changed in the 19th century, and why artists began to struggle with academic tradition.

November 28. The birth of impressionism. Artistic principles and creative method of impressionists. Who are the impressionists - an art association or a commercial group?

5th of December. Post-impressionists and the birth of modernism. Who are post-impressionists and how are they associated with impressionists. Post-impressionism and isisms of the twentieth century
