My love. Creation of the film. Exhibition of Alexander Petrov. 6+

Erarta Museum of Modern Art opens an exhibition of the animator, winner of the Oscar Alexander Petrov.

Material for the project “My love. Creation of the film ”was served by“ shots ”from the animated film“ My Love ”, the author of the script, the director and artist of which was Alexander Petrov.

He created the motion picture based on the novel by Ivan Shmelev “Love Story”, which tells about the first feelings, the search for happiness, the struggle between purity and sin. Alexander Petrov conveys a touching story on the screen with the help of painting, which, along with other advantages of the picture, was awarded numerous prizes of Russian and international film festivals.

In animation, Alexander Petrov turns to unconventional technology - he works on glass not with a brush or palette knife, but with his hand. In each brushstroke, in each line drawn on the plane with fingers or a touch of the palm, the artist embodies the most subtle nuances of meaning.

The master says this about his work: “I am ready to give all myself to each picture, which is an integral part of the film. And I want to make it as expressive as possible. In animation, it looks silly - to create each phase of the movement as a work of art… because its life on the screen is only a fraction of a second. And it turns out that most of the time it takes you just to paint the same picture to fill it with movement. At some stage, you see a successful phase and feel: yes, it worked! It could have hung in a good gallery. But in the end, you destroy it anyway. It needs to be erased to make room for the next. "

At the exhibition in the Erarta Museum, which will last from December 8 to January 22, the viewer will see both the film “My Love” and the selected paintings by Alexander Petrov, from which this film once developed.
