Science and art - ways of knowledge

Scientific-exhibition project of the Russian Academy of Arts “Science and art - ways of knowledge”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the Moscow Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts.

The scientific and exhibition project of the Russian Academy of Arts “Science and Art - Paths of Knowledge” is included in the official program of the main events celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. One of the significant anniversary events will also be the joint meeting of the Presidiums of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Arts, which will take place at the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts these days.

“Explore everywhere, every hour, What is great and beautiful” - these words of Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov most succinctly reflect the concept of the academic exhibition project. The path to knowledge, to understanding oneself and the world, which man has pursued throughout world history, is the main theme of the project and unites the scientist and the artist.

The extensive exhibition will be housed in 8 exhibition halls, designed according to a thematic principle, and will unite architectural projects, works of painting, sculpture and graphics, decorative and theatrical art, design, photography and multimedia, and the latest artistic movements. Capital viewers will see the works of recognized domestic masters - Z. K. Tsereteli, P. F. Nikonov, B. A. Messerer, V. G. Kalinin, A. A. Lyubavin, M. M. Posokhin, A. E. Ponomarev, Yu. I. Avvakumov and other academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts and the Russian Academy of Sciences, dedicated to outstanding scientists or the greatest scientific discoveries of mankind. An example of creative and scientific unity were the unique artistic photographs of the pilot-cosmonaut, honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts F. N. Yurchikhin and the paintings of the pilot-cosmonaut V. A. Dzhanibekov, as well as the extraordinary creativity of young artists and architects, graduates of academic universities and Creative workshops of the Russian Academy of Arts from all Russian regions. Among the historical exhibits, of interest are the drawings of the ethnographer, anthropologist, biologist and traveler N. N. Miklouho-Maclay, illustrations from the expeditions of the geographer, botanist, traveler P. P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky, materials from the funds of the Scientific Archive of the Russian Geographical Society and other institutions. Copies of rare archival materials - draft decrees related to the founding of the “Academy of Arts and Sciences”, fragments of other documents telling about the most important historical milestones in the formation and development of the “two academies”, emphasize the relationship between science and art over three centuries.

Several dozen government institutions, museum associations, galleries and private collectors are taking part in the academic exhibition project.
