Find the meaning. Book method. Master class by Anton Lepashev

This 5-day intensive is suitable for documentary and art photographers who are looking for new meanings and ways for their completed or not yet completed projects. Participants will be able to better understand, and sometimes completely revise their photo projects, having mastered the methods of book design.

“Book Method” is an opportunity to seriously play a book or edit a mature book project. The book as a goal and as a method is an incentive to more critically and more deeply relate to your time, author’s tasks and project materials.

In the course, we will analyze in detail some already published book photo projects and consider the features of the mechanisms of the Russian "self-publishing" (from the English. Self-publising). Participants will receive a practical understanding of the basic methods of book design design and an understanding of the materials, stages and technologies of printing production. The course will also provide an opportunity for the development of practical tools useful in further independent practice.

Stages and selected topics of the course:

• A detailed study of both the participants themselves and their photo projects
• Explicit (re) -understanding of one’s own ideas
• Games with meaning. Building logical and irrational narrative relationships within a photo project
• Analysis and editing of the material presented by participants for the ideas found in the study
• Mastering new tools for editing methods and visual book design
• Visualization of the revelations received in the form of electronic and paper prototype mock-ups
