The exhibition "From Architecture to Jane Austen" is dedicated to the English city of Bath. He often appears on the pages of English novels of the XVIII-XIX centuries. Many writers visited the Bath: Lawrence Stern, Daniel Defoe, Charles Dickens, William Thackeray. Bath is the birthplace of Jane Austen, so the effect of many of her works takes place in this city.
Pomeroy himself repeatedly returned to Bath in search of inspiration and now seeks to share it and convey the atmosphere of the city to the residents of St. Petersburg.
As part of the opening of the exhibition, a presentation of new works by Richard Pomeroy from the cycle "From Architecture to Jane Austen", a creative meeting with the artist, as well as an author’s master class will be held.
The organizers of the exhibition are the FoSSart art gallery and the ARTMODEX event agency, with the support of the British Book Center.
This is the first visit of Richard Pomeroy to Petersburg in a long time. The last time the artist visited the Northern capital in 1984. As part of the trip, the British artist, in collaboration with the FoSSart Gallery, also organizes night performance.
From May 21 to May 22, from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m., the guests of the FoSSart Gallery will enjoy a fascinating master class by Richard Pomeroy on the main technique of the artist - Bodyprint (a way to create a work using a human body print), as well as a performance by the door studio, a laureate of numerous international festivals contests.
Richard Pomeroy (Richard Pomeroy) - English artist, participant of more than 40 national exhibitions in the UK and abroad, chairman of the organization Somerset Art Works (UK), engaged in the development of visual art. Solo exhibitions of Pomeroy were held in London, Taunton and other cities in England.
In the work of Richard Pomeroy, reflections on the place of man in nature and on the place of nature in human life are reflected, he draws the viewer to eco-culture and harmony of relations with nature. The ambivalence of philosophy determines the artistic principles of the artist, the choice of expressive techniques.
Bodyprint experiments were started by Jasper Johns and Yves Klein and took the form of performance. For the first time in the history of the use of Bodyprint, Richard Pomeroy considers a person as one of the participants in a complex system of relations with nature, environment, and the Universe. The inherent brutality of Bodyprint in his work is mitigated by the subsequent refinement of the primary fingerprint and the construction of a composition with natural motifs.
