"Father and son. Pereyaslavl." Exhibition of works by Vladimir and Mikhail Pereyaslavtsev

The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by masters of the outstanding Russian art dynasty Pereyaslavtsev, academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts - artist Vladimir Pereyaslavets (1918-2018) and his son, sculptor Mikhail Pereyaslavets.

The creativity of these masters vividly characterizes the artistic searches, stylistics, and emotional atmosphere of various periods of Russian fine art. They are united not only by family ties, spiritual kinship, but also by a passionate commitment to artistic creativity, the desire to convey the world around us in its diversity and completeness, harmony and unity. The artists of this dynasty are characterized by a bright, authorial style, which is based on a deep comprehension of the traditions of European realistic art.

The biography of Vladimir Pereyaslavets and his son Mikhail is directly related to work in the Studio of Military Artists named after M. B. Grekova, therefore, a significant role in their work has a military-patriotic theme.

The biography, full of harsh events, of the academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, lieutenant colonel, pilot Vladimir Ivanovich Pereyaslavts, is depicted on the canvases of an artist who clearly and convincingly talks about people of that heroic time and modernity. In the still lifes and landscapes of V.I. Pereyaslavets, a joyful world appears, seen through the eyes of an artist in love with the beauty of his native land. His canvases cover the entire spectrum of classical genres: the plot picture, landscape, still life, but a particularly significant sphere of his work is the art of portraiture.

Mikhail Vladimirovich Pereyaslavets - an outstanding master of modern sculpture, people’s artist of the Russian Federation, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after I. E. Repin, professor of sculpture and composition at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikova.

M. Pereyaslavets works in easel and monumental sculpture, creates portraits, plot compositions of historical and mythological subjects, city monuments. The monuments he created for the Paratrooper Soldiers in Moscow, V.I. Surikov in Moscow, three times Hero of the Soviet Union pilot A.I. Pokryshkin in Novosibirsk, Catherine II in Zerbst in Germany, writer P.P. Ershov, F. M Dostoevsky in Tobolsk. For each monument, the artist finds a special symbolic solution.

The works of artists are in collections of the country’s largest museums - the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and others, as well as in many foreign private collections.
