There are legends imperiously attracting to themselves. Peering into the depths of their philosophical implications, we again and again find answers to today’s questions - wondering and rejoicing at the miracle of constant empathy. One of these legends is the story of Peer Gynt, told in the 19th century by Henrik Ibsen. We are delightedly immersed in the charm of fiction… intensely absorbing the sound of a bygone era… And let the realities of those times have long lost their relevance, and the conventionality of dramatic writing is somewhere even naive. We are attracted to ourselves by the secret of a long-established, but such a piercing masterpiece. And yet - there is the music of the great Edward Grieg, which is also… Per Gynt. The melody animates the text, the word awakens the music. We are listening.
