Screening of the movie SILENT, SAD, SILENT

On August 25, at 19:00, the last film with the participation of silent movie star Vera Kholodnaya - “Be quiet, sad, be silent…” (1918, directors Pyotr Chardynin, Cheslav Sabinsky, Vyacheslav Viskovsky) will be screened in the Balcony Hall of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts. This is a two-part picture about the beauty misfortunes of the beautiful Paula. The film was shot for the 10th anniversary of Russian cinema and only the first episode of the film has survived to this day.

The atmosphere of those years will be recreated thanks to a real tapper who will accompany the film screening. The word taper comes from fr. “Taper” - clapping, knocking - the manner of performing a musician who often had to play an instrument of poor quality. With the advent of sound cinema, tappers are no longer needed.

125 years ago, the “Queen of the Screen” of Russian cinema of the beginning of the 20th century, Vera Kholodnaya, was born. Due to her appearance and femininity, Vera Kholodnaya became the personification of decadence. Her role is a suffering woman, a victim of love and domestic passions. Now her name is invariably associated with the history of domestic cinema.
