The project "Theater evenings" as part of the "Seasons of Culture Russia - Austria"

From October 13 to October 15, 2015, in Vienna, within the framework of the “Russia-Austria Culture Seasons”, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will present the “Theater Nights” project. In the program: children’s play “Tales of Ole Lukoye” based on the tales of G.Kh. Andersen, the lyrical comedy "Splinter" based on the work of F. Sagan and the interactive exhibition "Literary Heroes in the Puppet Theater".

October 13 at 19:00 "Theater Nights" will open the St. Petersburg State Puppet Theater. E.S. Demmen’s puppet show “Tales of Ole Lukoye” (directed by Eduard Gaidai) based on the tales of Hans Christian Andersen.

Russia’s first professional puppet theater, with almost a century of history and a unique collection of puppets, carefully preserves traditions, while developing new forms and genres, and creating premieres for family viewing. This performance is no exception. The amazing stories told by the good wizard Ole Lukoye from Andersen’s fairy tales “The Princess and the Pea” and “Flint” will undoubtedly involve both small viewers and their parents in the unusual and magical world of puppetry.

Duration of the performance: 1 hour 10 minutes with intermission.

On October 15 at 19:00, the State Drama Theater “Shelter of the Comedian” will present the play “Splinter” (directed by Dmitry Yakubov) based on the work of Francoise Sagan.

Lyrical comedy reveals the complex relationship of art, life and the role of man in the unlimited space of the Theater. The obsessive, but bright dream of the main character Elizabeth (once a young and beautiful actress) about the search for a new role - transforms the reality of her life, becoming the last leitmotif and formative force. Some of the best actors from St. Petersburg are involved in the performance: folk artists of the Russian Federation Ivan Krasko and Tatyana Pileckaya, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Evgeny Ivanov.

Duration of the performance: 1 hour 30 minutes with one intermission.

In addition to theatrical performances, from October 13 to 15, viewers will be able to see the exhibition of game puppets "Russian literature in the dolls of the Demmen Theater" of the St. Petersburg State Puppet Theater named after E.S. Demmeni.

An interactive exhibition dedicated to the Year of Literature in Russia will present ancient theater puppets from performances based on the works of A.S. Pushkina, A.P. Chekhov, L.N. Tolstoy, S.Ya. Marshak, E.N. Assumption and Russian folk tales. You can see the famous Petrushka - the hero of folk puppet shows.
