Program for children and teenagers for the exhibition "The Mummies of Ancient Egypt. The Art of Immortality"

The Pushkin Museum has developed a special program for young visitors to the exhibition Mummies of Ancient Egypt. The Art of Immortality" . These are excursions and educational activities for children and teenagers aged 6-14.

In the Pushkin Museum im. A.S. Pushkin, an exhibition dedicated to the mummies of ancient Egypt. Visitors can see more than 400 exhibits, some of which were previously available only to specialists. The exposition presents mummies of people and animals, sarcophagi, funeral shrouds and masks, Fayum portraits, fragments of tomb reliefs and other monuments of artistic craft associated with the funeral cult. The project tells the modern viewer how the ancient inhabitants of the Nile Valley imagined eternal existence, about their beliefs and practices aimed at gaining life beyond the threshold of death.

Ancient Egypt is one of the world’s most mysterious cultures. The exhibition at the Pushkin Museum and the program developed for it allow you to get to know the ancient Egyptians, who believed that gods and heroes once lived among people and taught them crafts, agriculture, and art. And it was the Egyptians who were the first to believe in the possibility of human immortality and created a special ritual that bestows this immortality.

The special program for the exhibition includes excursions and quests. Young visitors to the exhibition and program participants will learn how the ancient Egyptians imagined eternal life, how the Egyptian tomb was arranged, what the mummification process was and why a mummy is called a mummy, and they will also hear Egyptian myths and fairy tales that the ancient Egyptians read to their children at night. The exhibition presents unique works of art that will help not only to learn a lot about the mysterious civilization, but also to feel the beauty of the life of the ancient Egyptians.

Guided tour of the exhibition “Mummies of Ancient Egypt. The Art of Immortality” is dedicated to the ideas of the ancient Egyptians about eternal life in the afterlife. On the tour you will see how the Egyptian tomb was built, learn about the process of mummification, hear Egyptian myths. The unique works of art presented at the exhibition will help not only to learn about eternal and everyday life, but also to feel the beauty that filled the entire existence of the ancient Egyptians.
