Each creative person has a core - images of the beauties of the Motherland, its history, values and examples from the life of national heroes, captured by a tenacious look and conceptualized by the artist’s creative mind.

“Russia through the eyes of the artist” is not just a catchy phrase for me, it’s a paradigm of creativity, when everything is subordinated to one goal: to love and sing their land and teach this to the younger generation! ” - Evgeny Ladygin.

The creative method of participants in the author’s project “Russia through the eyes of“ New Names ”consists in integrating the possibilities of graphics, painting and literary creation to create a holistic image of characters - sights of our country. They take the form of literary and graphic sketches (illustrated essay essays), where the word supplements the line and vice versa. Examining their heroes from the historical, regional, visual and spiritual side, the artists create their full integrated “portrait” in the format “Guide through the eyes of the artist”. The product of creative activity is aimed at realizing the interests of viewers and readers - future pilgrims and tourists eager to get acquainted with all the interesting things that exist in the vastness of Russia.

The exhibition is educational in nature - Evgeny Ladygin reveals to the audience the secrets of his skills and presents the work of the participants of the project “Russia through the eyes of“ New Names ”, scholars of the Charity Fund“ New Names ”. The International Summer Creative School “New Names” in Suzdal and in several regions of Russia hosts master classes by the artist “Portrait of My Land”, the guys write and illustrate essays for guidebooks. These educational projects have been implemented by the New Names Charitable Fund since 2018 with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.

Creativity Eugene Ladygin today is widely in demand in Russia. His paintings take part in art exhibitions acquired by the State Historical Museum, the Museum of Moscow, art galleries of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, etc., by private collectors, and are used as elements of corporate identity and VIP souvenirs. Together with the works of the participants of the author’s project “Russia through the eyes of“ New Names ”, the exhibition presents an illustrative series of literary and graphic sketches by Yevgeny Ladygin, completed over several decades. Viewers will be able to see examples of the use of his images of Russia in design, advertising, book graphics, in souvenir products (including engravings on brass created by Evgeny Ladygin in collaboration with a member of the TSHR engraver V. I. Matora), as well as samples of postcards and packaging.
