# Garden of pleasure. Exhibition of Cyril Borodin. 18+

On March 28, Erarta Museum of Modern Art opens an exhibition of Cyril Borodin.

This is a new name for Petersburgers, because the artist mainly lives and works in Yekaterinburg. Like the heroes of his own paintings, Kirill Borodin is young, handsome and successful. His painting seems glossy-positive, but it is only at first glance - in the ultramodern style of Borodin you will find deep irony and subtle sarcasm.

In his series of works “Garden of Pleasures”, the artist turns to the stereotypical image of the “blonde”, a secular lady, for whom the peak of personal development is successful marriage. The viewer will certainly recognize her model figure, hair straightened with an iron, an indifferent facial expression and a fur vest, fashionable until recently. The beauties on the canvases of Borodin squeeze unfortunate Spitz, carry them in bags in clubs, considering it more an accessory than a living creature.

Unlike his heroes, Cyril Borodin realizes that harsh reality hides behind the facade of glamor, and instincts do not sleep. The artist expresses their spontaneous awakening in scenes of fierce battles between Spitz and Chihuahua or quarrels of fashionistas, which show us modern life with its superficiality, delusions of grandeur and imaginary invulnerability.

A powerful source of “inspiration” for the artist was also social networks, where people are endlessly advertised with the help of selfies. Kirill Borodin plays the same game with the audience - many of his paintings resemble photographs taken for Instagram (продукт Meta Platforms Inc., компания признана экстремистской организацией, деятельность на территории РФ запрещена) from the best angle.

As for the style of painting, the artist writes easily, his realism is characterized by the vigor of the brushstroke and color, the drawing is anatomically convincing, which is an achievement in our day.
