On September 20 and 21, 2017, the premiere of the performance “South / North” directed by Harold Strelkov based on the play by Yulia Tupikina will take place on the big stage of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army. The premiere is unique in that for the first time in thirty-three years of work in the same theater, three leading folk actresses of the Army Theater - n. but. RSFSR Alina Pokrovskaya, n. but. RF Olga Bogdanova and n. but. RF Larisa Golubkina.

The first premiere of the new 88th theater season of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army is the staging of the play "South / North" by the modern playwright Yulia Tupikina, the laureate of many festivals and competitions, including the main climatic drama competition of the country.

The play "South / North", created by Tupikina by order of the Army Theater, is noteworthy for the fact that it was written for and "under" the leading actresses of the Central Asian Theater, people’s artists of Russia Larisa Golubkina, Olga Bogdanova and Alina Pokrovskaya, taking into account their characters and acting identities.

“The task of creating a play for specific actresses,” says Yulia Tupikina, “is quite difficult, given that they are all stars, they have been able to participate in the best performances of the best dramatic works, and it is difficult to surprise them. It is all the more risky to offer them a modern text about today written in a modern, unusual form. Communicating with each of them, I absorbed their stories, their language, energy, which is why the characters turned out bright, young, filled with life. I hope that everything will turn out well and the performance will turn out to be lively, cutting-edge, deep and inspiring. ”

Throughout the 20th century, significant events for our country were reflected in the fates of ordinary people and became part of the performance, but at the same time, this story is truly modern, about Moscow in 2017. The confrontation between officials and small business, women and men, past and present, logic and intuition, thoughts and actions - all this and much more went into the play.

“South / North” is the first production of Harold Strelkov at the Theater of the Russian Army. Harold Strelkov is a well-known, contemporary director, who has successfully and successfully staged many different theaters in Russia, primarily two capital theaters - Moscow and St. Petersburg, the winner of many awards and festivals. The director says: “The play was created on the basis of real characters, the fate of the stars of the Army Theater and talks about modern Moscow. Preserving the fabric of living life as part of theatrical action is perhaps the main goal of my production. I want to give actresses the opportunity to speak with the audience in the living language of personal experience. The look of the Theater on the modern life of the capital will become a texture, the environment of the performance. And of course, the theme of human freedom in the modern world, its internal freedom. How to learn not to interfere with another person’s life, to act, how not to break his life and plans for himself; how not to interfere with each other’s life. ”
