Erarta Museum of Modern Art presents an exhibition of interactive audio-visual objects created on the basis of the famous French National Center for Electroacoustic Music Grame.
Exhibition “Studio Grame. Sounds and Signs ”at the Erarta Museum is a fantastic space filled with light and sound. The exposition consists of ten art objects - each of them allows the viewer not only to hear the sound, but also to see it, to feel its presence. Sound takes on color and form, embodied in specific symbols and signs.
The installations presented in the Erart Museum are united by the theme of collision and interaction between the visible and the audible. Getting into the space of the exhibition, the viewer uses all the channels of perception - hearing, sight, touch. He finds himself inside a huge music box filled with sounds and images, is involved in the co-creation process - he is involved in the creation of audiovisual works.
Most of the works presented at the exhibition in the Museum of Erart, created on the basis of the famous National Center for Electroacoustic Music Grame in Lyon (France). At the heart of each work is the interaction of sound, visual image and space, which is made possible through the use of modern technology.
The exhibition brought together such well-known media artists as Denis Venzan, Matt Coco, Zoe Benoit, Pierre Basseri, Scotty Chi Che Juan, James Girudon, Jan Orlare, Pierre-Alain Jaffrenu, Sintaro Imai. You can see, hear and feel their work until October 6 at the Erarta Museum.
About Grame Studio:
Studio Grame (National Theater of Electroacoustic Music) was founded in 1982 by Pierre-Alain Jaffrenou and James Girudon. Currently, along with seven similar organizations, it is part of the system of national centers for music education, established by the French Ministry of Culture in 1997. The organization’s goal is to create a kind of ecosystem in which musical and interdisciplinary works, fundamental and applied research, pedagogy and mass communication will coexist and complement each other.
Grame is a meeting place and creative space for composers, performers, researchers and various creative teams. Here they find high-tech equipment and the support of art assistants and technical specialists. All Grame’s creative activities are based on the close relationship between art and science, with computer technology playing an important role. There is a scientific department in the center, whose specialists conduct research in three main areas: real-time data transmission systems, systems for displaying and performing musical works, and programming languages.
Grame Studio produces the Biennale Musiques en Scène, which has become one of the most important musical events in France and Europe. The organization is actively educating, intensively developing international cooperation. The center’s projects are popularized and the knowledge accumulated by it is disseminated in the form of concert tours, master classes, lectures and exhibitions, primarily in Europe, Asia and North America.
