"Own Line" Exhibition of works by Sergey Tsigal

An exhibition of works by Sergey Viktorovich Tsigal “Own Line” opens at the MVK RAX Art Gallery on Prechistenka 19.

The exposition presents more than 120 graphic works made in the technique of etching, silk-screen printing, airbrushing and mixed media, about 40 paintings and a number of art objects.

The name of the exhibition is borrowed from an article by Vadim Abdrashitov, who wrote about the work of Sergei Tsigal: “I want to consider the etchings of the artist again and again: there is movement, there is life. Because Tsigal has his own line. In the sense that there are no random lines, as they are not in nature. "

The artist positions himself as an animalist, many of his works are devoted to the fragile world of wildlife. The master often works in thematic series: "Beasts on a black background", "Insects", "Fishes", "Cats", "Vine", "Lotus" combine the naturalist’s interest and symbolism, the refinement of oriental graphics. Among them are the warm, lyrical images of the greyhound Dunya and other pets playing in the graphic sheets “Dunya and Kisya”. Sometimes the images intertwine and merge, turning into bizarre ornaments in the works of the triptych "Climbing Kazbek", a series of "Case in Jerusalem."

In numerous trips around the country, foreign trips, impressions were collected for the series “Torzhok”, “Around Koktebel”, “Koktebel stones”, “Central Asia”, “Venice”, “Sailboats”, “China” and many others. Nostalgia, poetry, romantic emotion distinguish these works.

The artist’s works, full of admiration for nature, good humor, permeated with love for the world, do not leave anyone indifferent.

Sergei Viktorovich Tsigal was born on December 6, 1949 in Moscow. He belongs to the famous creative Tsigalei-Shaginyan dynasty, his father is a national artist, graphic artist Victor Tsigal, his mother is an artist Mirel Shaginyan. Since school years, Sergei Tsigal has been attracted to travel, at the age of 16 he went on an expedition to South Sakhalin. Another hobby of the future animal artist since childhood was biology. In 1973, Sergei Viktorovich graduated from Moscow State University. Lomonosov, Department of Biogeography, Faculty of Geography, participated in a scientific expedition across the Indian Ocean. In 1986 he graduated from MVHPU them. S. G. Stroganova (formerly Stroganov School). High professionalism, excellent performing skills helped him to establish himself at the beginning of his career as an independent creative person. Today it is a mature master, a participant in over 200 art exhibitions.

Artworks S.V. Tsigalya are in the collections of the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin, the State Russian Museum, the State Darwin Museum, the Russian State Library (named after Lenin), the Museum "Nature and Man" in Khanty-Mansiysk, and in other regional museums. As well as in private collections in Russia, USA, Sweden, England, France, Israel, Denmark, etc.
