VI Festival-Laboratory of Young Director ON.TEATR

From October 31 to November 4 in St. Petersburg, on the new stage of the ON.TEATR Laboratory , the Sixth Festival-Laboratory of Young Director will be held. A team of talented actors and directors prepared nine experimental performances for the audience, which are completely different from what you saw before.

After long wanderings in the cultural capital of Russia, the period of trials and persecution, ON.TEATR has found a new home in St. Petersburg, which is happy to invite all fans of the modern theater to watch new productions.

On stage, the THEATERS are not afraid of the modern language and provocative productions; in this theater you can do whatever the imagination of modern young directors is capable of. And it, fortunately, is capable of much. The viewer has the opportunity to see how traditional classics intertwine with modern drama, opening the horizon to a new genre. At the end of last year, ON.TEATR came on tour in Moscow, where at the Center. Meyerhold showed six sold-out performances.

“Each year, our festival laboratory is dedicated to different topics. It all started in 2009, we were just “looking for ourselves,” so the first poster was made up of seven of the best performances that were in the repertoire at that time, ”says Milena Avimskaya, ON.TEATR director. In the second year, emphasis was placed on the close relationship of drama and directing. And in 2011, ON.TEATR exchanged directors with the Paolo Grassi Academy in Milan, then prose of all times and peoples became the basis for the sketches, and dramatists made dramas. The fifth festival-laboratory was held on the new stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater - sketches were shown by the directors of the course A. Praudin based on specially written plays by playwrights of the course N. Skorohod. ”

This year, the audience will have a rich program of nine performances. The productions are based on modern comedies, specially selected for ON.TEATRA by the famous playwright, chief editor of the journal "Modern Drama" Rodion Beletsky. Open to experiment, this festival is a breath of fresh air in the cultural life of St. Petersburg.

For many years ON. THEATER has been based on the initiative of a talented team. Overcoming difficulties, directors and actors share their creativity with the audience - as young, courageous, open to everything new, willing to take risks and thirsty for communication. The informal and friendly atmosphere, so beloved by the audience, did not leave the laboratory in the new room, because the atmosphere is made by people, not walls.

Laboratory ON.TEATR was organized in 2009 for young theater directors and actors of St. Petersburg. The laboratory is one of the most interesting and fruitful theater spaces in the country, D. Volkostrelov, S. Alexandrovsky, M. Romanova, G. Tsnobiladze, E. Maximova, M. Smirnov and others made their debut here. Over the past 5 years, the only organization filling the vacuum between educational institution and the state theater, the Laboratory plays a crucial role in the theatrical process of St. Petersburg.
