VOCAL CONCERT FORGOTTEN ARIETTE

The concert program included vocal works by Claude Debussy and Gabriel Foret to verses by French composers. The first branch will sound in French.

The second section will present a modern Russian translation of Claude Debussy’s vocal cycle “Forgotten Ariettes” into the words of Paul Verlaine. This is one of his best works for voice. “Here is finally a real Debussy in all six„ melodies ”. For the first time, his personality was fully manifested, ”recall the criticism of the Forgotten Arietts.

The name Debussy is a symbol of impressionism in music. However, he did not consider himself to be in this direction, considering music to be a more complex and deeper essence: “Music is not a direct image, not an illustration of nature’s pictures, it conveys impressions of nature through more complex and subtle, secret associations.” In this sense, Debussy is closer to the French Symbolists. It is on Verlaine’s verses that the Forgotten Ariettes are written, and the name of the cycle is also taken from it. Verlaine wrote exquisite "Romances without words", "Watercolors", "..scapes", trying to find new means of expression, and Debussy continued his research in music.
