At the exhibition of the famous photographer and poet Alik Yakubovich, “All is your time,” which will open on November 25 at the Moscow art club Gallery (Pechatniki), more than 30 black-and-white photographs are presented in the genre of psychological portraiture, city photography, concert reporting and genre photos. The general line through the entire exposition, its semantic core, is a series of photographs taken in the creative workshops of famous artists. Shots from various aspects of the townspeople’s life, funny and slightly sad, relevant and sentimental, are “strung” on this series.
Alik Yakubovich himself says about his exhibition: “My time stopped in the 60-70s of the last century. And my current work is a photo of the lost world. It’s not in vain that one of my good friends said that you, Alik, work in your own genre - the genre of “new sentimentalism”… I’m tired of talented negativity and missed the good photography, the era of such magazines as “Photo Review” and “Soviet” Photo". Therefore, this exhibition is largely about time. ”
The exhibition “Everything is your time” is a kind of study of the artist’s relationship with the outside world and his personal creative space. The art workshop in Yakubovich’s photographs, from the workroom itself, turns into an art object, enclosing an existential context, a borderline state, the entry into which, as well as going beyond this limbus, is always associated with the birth of qualitatively new things or ideas. But life, for an attentive researcher, is itself often a huge workshop. It is not for nothing that the author himself admits that he “thinks with his feet” when he goes out of the city with a camera. Yakubovich swings the pendulum from external to internal and vice versa, creating a peculiar rhythm and architectonics of the exposition. Pictures of city life are adjacent to pictures of creative lofts, as if to say that for real creativity there are no separate places and specially allocated time…
