Exhibition "Antilles Pearls in the Russian Landscape"

An exhibition of Cuban artists and photographers dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Russia (USSR), as well as the third anniversary of the on-line journal of national journalism SOYUZ, will be held at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (103 Lenin St.) mag-union.ru ) The opening ceremony will be attended by Cuban artists Maria Valdes, Omar Godines, Vivian del Rio, as well as employees of the Embassy of Cuba in Russia and employees of Soyuz magazine

The works of the famous Cuban artist and graphic artist Omar Godines introduce painting admirers to the development of contemporary Latin American art. The artist was born in 1953 in Havana in Cuba, where he graduated from the San Alejandro Art School, then international silk-screening courses in the workshop of René Portocarero in Havana. In Russia, Godines graduated from Moscow State Art Institute. IN AND. Surikov. Omar Godines is a member of the UNESCO International Federation of Artists and the Moscow Union of Artists, curator of the Festival of Ibero-American Culture. A participant of the “Document” in Kassel (Germany) in the project “Caribbean Art Today” (1994), Omar Godines works not only as a painter and graphic artist, but also engages in teaching, has a master’s degree in art history. His solo exhibitions have been successful in Cuba, in Mexico, the USA, Spain, the Czech Republic and Russia.

In his work, the artist turns to eternal themes in art, develops the national traditions of Latin American culture, but does not copy nature, but interprets it in accordance with his worldview: “By painting I express thoughts, deeds, phenomena. In essence, this is a translation into the language of plasticity of sensations and perceptions of the world. These are plastic myths, in them the magic of man’s creation, and the whole volume of human feelings and thoughts ”- this is how the artist defines his creative method, the meaning of art in his life.

The younger generation of Cuban artists is represented by the work of the artist Maria Valdes Odriosola. Maria Santiagovna Valdes Odriosola was born in Moscow in 1979 in a Russian-Cuban family. Graduated with honors from the art and graphic faculty of Moscow State Pedagogical University and graduate school of Moscow State Open Pedagogical University named after M.A. Sholokhov. The origin of Maria Valdes Odriosola subsequently determined the development of her work and international cultural activities. Since 2006, Maria has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the UNESCO Association of Fine Arts, a member of the Cuban Bienes Cultural Foundation.

Maria Valdes Audriosola is a participant in many art exhibitions. The artist turns to different genres, but the landscape in her work takes the main place. The palette of her paintings is filled with southern temperament, which is manifested not only in Caribbean motifs, but also in Russian landscapes. Maria Valdez Odriosola has proved herself as a talented writer - she is the author of several books on art.

The life of modern Cuba, as well as Russia, is represented in the photographs of Vivian del Rio . Photographer, illustrator, designer, Vivian del Rio was born in Moscow in 1966, and spent her childhood in Cuba, where her father was born from. Therefore, her work inspires both Russia and Cuba, Moscow and Havana. Vivian graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute with a degree in graphic art. However, she began as a painter in the 1990s, and in the 2000s. seriously carried away by photography. Vivian is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, as well as the Union of Russian Photographers. A teacher of the school of visual arts, the author of several books, including “Habana + Moscow”, Vivian del Rio lives and works in Moscow, is engaged in photography, painting, the art of illustration, design. Her works are constantly exhibited at group and personal exhibitions in Russia and abroad, are in many private collections, as well as in the collection of the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
