In anticipation of the opening of the Fashion and Design Center at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, young Russian designers will hold the Smoke of Change exhibition in the restored wing of the Museum. The exposition of the Smoke of Change exhibition is divided into two parts:
"SMOKE"
The first part of the exhibition is a collection of small decorative ceramic figures, censers. Traditionally, such censers are a mandatory attribute in Buddhist religious practices, and some time ago, the creative group Neighborhood (Japan) created modern decorative “smokers” based on them. Chinese kaolin clay - a material used in traditional ceramics - was replaced by local clay, which has long been used in Russian pottery crafts, and the object itself, having lost its sacredness, takes on a new form.
"CHANGE"
The second part of the exhibition is a dinner service made and painted specifically for the exhibition. In the case of utensils, the functional load is absolutely obvious, but there is also room for creative variations. The service from ae kids, created especially for the Smoke of Change exhibition, is just a variation. It is inspired by the famous porcelain tea set, painted based on the works of Nikolai Suetin. You can see the original service in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Decorative Arts.
The Smoke of Change exhibition will be held at the Museum’s new institution, the Fashion and Design Center, which was created with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The Fashion and Design Center has a social focus - it is planned to hold a wide range of events aimed at supporting young designers. The Center’s work schedule was specially selected from 12:00 to 21:00, and an important decision was made - to make free admission for visitors.
