Temperament and expressiveness in the painting of Elena Artsutanova: a large exhibition of a representative of modern abstract expressionism will be held in Artmuse.

Abstract expressionism is not new: this trend was initiated by the Great Depression in the United States, however, to this day, artists around the world work in this direction, and their works cause many questions and emotions among the public. Abstract expressionists especially vividly demonstrate that art is born from personal experience: the direction continues to develop, colors acquire new shades in the modern cultural and social context, and abstract exhibitions give rise to a space of dialogue, various interpretations and associations. Therefore, speaking about the author, a representative of the new wave, a portrait of the artist herself is born.

Elena Artsutanova’s painting is thick and pasty. As temperamental as the author herself. Its essence is color. In each of her works, Elena develops the theme of the meeting of several colors, expresses this meeting as a drama, gives it a major or tragic sound. Complex color relationships are built on sharp contrasts and subtle nuances, but the main thing in them is maximum activity, tension. Using different color schemes: intense, bright or muted colors, the author helps the attentive viewer to go through the labyrinths of complex constructive feelings and associations.

Elena Artsutanova lives and works in St. Petersburg, is a member of the Union of Artists and the Association of Independent Art "Pushkinskaya-10". Participant of more than 50 group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. The curator of the exhibition is Marina Gurevich.
