The Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (103 Lenina St.) will host the opening of the exhibition "Urban Fashion of the 19th - 20th centuries" from the collection of the "Museum of Fashion", Moscow.

The Museum and Exhibition Center "Museum of Fashion" in Moscow is the first museum in Russia engaged in the study, research and popularization of the history of fashion as an important part and phenomenon of material culture. The collection of the Fashion Museum includes dresses, costumes, hats, accessories and footwear of the late 19th - 21st centuries and has more than two thousand exhibits from Russia, Western Europe and the United States, including many original and unnamed items, both massive and unique. The collection of the Museum includes suits and dresses from Worth, Redfern, Versace, Armani, Alexander McQueen and other world famous brands. Today it is a collection of items that define their era. From dresses and accessories to perfumes and magazines.

The Moscow "Fashion Museum" in Kaluga presents a selected collection of women’s suits and accessories that most fully reflect the transience and volatility of fashion. Each exhibit illustrates a separate decade and trend - from the unique S-line dress of the 1860s, created in the Russian Empire, to the extravagant dresses of the 1990s.

The exhibition reflects the main periods in fashion: the modern era, the roaring twenties, the feminine 1930s, the military and post-war 1940-1950s, the revolutionary 1960s, the vibrant 1970s and 1980s, the carefree 1990s.

The image of each decade is complemented by accessories that can tell in detail about the habits of their owners, their lifestyle and the time in which they lived.

The exposition includes portraits from the collection of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, created by Russian, Western European and Soviet artists, in which they captured their contemporaries, and together with them, in their appearance, the trends of their contemporary fashion in different periods of the 19th - 20th centuries.
