Exhibition of paintings by Kazan artist Oleg Ivanov

On February 29, the Dom Art Gallery opens an exhibition of paintings by Kazan artist Oleg Ivanov. The artistic environment of Kazan discovered the work of Oleg Ivanov in the second half of the eighties, and even then he declared himself to be an original author, going his own way, free of official frames. In the work of Oleg Ivanov, paradoxically, they found an organic embodiment of tradition, originating from late Soviet non-conformism, and from the Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century, and from medieval Russian art, icon painting. Oleg did not belong to that category of artists who quickly, without undue reflections, paint their paintings for the needs of the day, focusing on momentary demand and mass taste. Each of his works is the fruit of a careful search for harmony, the tuning fork of which serves as the author’s inner sensation.

Oleg’s paintings are permeated with subtle poetry of elusive shades of states, prompting the viewer to think and empathize. At the same time, the artist pays great attention to aspects of form, each of his works is distinguished by accuracy, refinement with regard to both the image itself and the picturesque surface of the picture, a quiet play of color. Oleg Ivanov left a rich artistic heritage. His works are in the collection of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the RT, private collections in Russia, USA, Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany.

Gallery "Dom-Art" has collected a representative collection of paintings by Oleg Ivanov, which will be shown at the opening exhibition. Among them are portraits, still lifes, genre works. More recently, Oleg was gone, the verbs of the past tense sound discordant. Oleg left a good, bright memory about himself, and the exhibition, which was conceived during his lifetime, will help to preserve it.
