Exhibition "Line of Love"

The new exhibition "Line of Love" will open in the Irkutsk Art Museum on July 22. On display are 65 lithographs from private European collections. The exhibition is provided by the Art Center in the Perine Rows (St. Petersburg). Among the authors - Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Paul Wunderlich, Egon Schiele and other outstanding masters of the last century. All of them in their work addressed the topic of love and eroticism, but found an expression for it.

The most recognizable master of the twentieth century - Pablo Picasso (1881 - 1973), a Spanish artist and sculptor, is represented at the exhibition by works from the Suite 347 series - this is his most frank graphic cycle, containing a wide range of human emotions and passions. Picasso experiments and uses a variety of techniques: etching, aquatint, aquatint on metal, polishing, and a dry needle.

A completely different eroticism by Henri Matisse (1869–1954), an outstanding French artist. This is the brightness of colors, the smoothness and plastic expressiveness of lines, the roundness of forms and complete immersion in the joy of life. Matisse developed a technique for compiling an image from paper scraps (the so-called Papiers decoupes), which enabled him to achieve a synthesis of drawing and color.

Paul (Paul) Wunderlich (Germany) takes the viewer into a world where fantastic realism combines with a share of irony. The artistic language of Egon Schiele (Austria) is clear and logical, its lines are very clear and most reliably convey the features of the human body. Not so often you can see in the museums of Russia the works of Francis de Lasso Saint-Genis. The great-grandson of composer Charles Gounod, he shares with the audience of his universe, full of harmony and music. And this is not a complete list of authors whose lithographs are presented at the exhibition.

We can say that visitors to the “Line of Love” will be able to get acquainted with the works of the creators of the most famous frank paintings of their time, which challenged society with creativity.
