Exhibition of Nikolai Vdovkin "Form. Movement. Image"

October 5 at 16.00 in the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Lenin St., 103, second floor) will open the personal anniversary exhibition of enamel Nikolai Vdovkin “Form. Traffic. Form".

The exposition includes works in the technique of hot enamel in recent years. Nikolai Vdovkin is one of the leading masters of enamel art in Russia. He was born in 1948. In 1972 he graduated from the Higher School of Industrial Art (formerly Stroganovskoe). She is a regular participant in many Russian and international exhibitions and symposia. He works in various genres and techniques of fine art, creates stained-glass windows, mosaics, wall paintings in temples, and is engaged in icon painting. Winner of international prizes. Professor of Academic workshops on monumental and decorative art.

For the past 30 years, Vdovkin has been seriously engaged in enamel art, having achieved significant success in it. Developing the traditions of this ancient art form, he introduced modern sound into them, enriched them with new complex technologies and coloristic possibilities.

Nikolai Vdovkin, like many masters of his generation, in his search did not go along the road of mass production, but chose the path to creating unique artistic works.

Enamels Vdovkina close to painting. Only the role of the binder is fire. In his workshop, the artist installed special equipment that allows him to use a wide range of high-fired enamels, giving a different surface: shiny and matte, smooth and textured. Form in the artist’s work is very important, it determines the plasticity and the “language” of the works.

The master’s works attract attention with the novelty and expressiveness of successfully found images.

A special place in Vdovkin’s work is occupied by the theme: “Mother and Child”. In these works, performed in a light emotional tone, the artist seeks to convey harmony, inner purity, nobility.

In recent years, the artist has created many magnificent, honed by mastery of work. They manifest a unique individual handwriting of the master.

Modern enamel is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon. It requires the master of knowledge of technology and new artistic ideas.

The artist lives and works in the Stavropol Territory. A man of an active life position, he transfers his experience and skill to students of the Southern Federal University. Since 1991, on the basis of his workshop, he has been conducting creative international enamel symposia. Headed by the Enamel Guild of Southern Russia. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Gold Medal of the Union of Artists of Russia, the Gold Medal of the TSKhR and others.

The works of N. Vdovkin are in museums in Moscow, many cities of Russia and abroad, as well as in private collections in many countries of the world.
