In the Center for Contemporary Culture "Hlebozavod" (Semyonovskaya street, 9) the exhibition "Paradoxical hybrids" was opened. This project brought together young Russian artists, whose works unpredictably combine digital technologies, familiar objects and new media. The exhibition will last until January 24, 2019.
The exhibition features the works of Yegor Kraft, Alina Glazun, Grigory Selsky, Anna Lyalina, Daria Chermoshanskaya, Marina Rudenko, the art group "Where the dogs flee" and other artists. The curator of the exhibition was Aristarkh Chernyshev - Russian artist, researcher, curator of the Electromuseum in Rostokino, teacher of the School of Photography and Multimedia named after Rodchenko.
- In art there is no utilitarian task to do something that has specific properties. Artists, as a rule, experiment and look at the result. It was this principle that was used in the selection of authors and their works, - noted Aristarkh Chernyshev.
The project "Paradoxical Hybrids" participated in the parallel program of the 6th Biennale of Young Art (Moscow, 2018). Center "Bread Factory" became the first platform for the demonstration of this exhibition outside the capital.
- In the previous project "Opening, Opening", we together with the guests of "Bread Factory" understood how the science and art communicate with each other, tried to understand how and how accurately they model the future. It turned out not only about the possibility of interaction of these seemingly untouched areas, but also about the limitations of human abilities in questions of comprehension of the world, about those tricks that our consciousness puts on the path of discovery of the unknown. The exhibition "Paradoxical Hybrids" touches on similar problems, but focuses on the present, on what is happening here and now: how we manage to maneuver in a continuous stream of information, whether we are able to expand the scope of our perception of reality, and how we will treat those, who is able to do it today, "said Olga Burasova, chief curator of the Center for Contemporary Culture" Hlebozavod ".
In addition to the exhibition, in the new academic season, the Center "Bread Factory" will give lectures from experts in the field of contemporary art and science. Meetings with media artists, heads of major publishing houses, film screenings are planned. Children will be able to attend interactive excursions for schoolchildren and become participants in creative shifts.
