Exhibition "Amber Period Park"

The All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art opens an interactive and informative exhibition - "Amber Period Park". The exhibition reveals incredible secrets about the history, mining and useful properties of the mysterious mineral of organic origin *.

The peculiarity of the exhibition is a complete interactive immersion in the world of amber, whose history has more than 75 million years. The "Amber Time Machine" will transfer to the ancient forests of the prehistoric era, where solar resin was born. This journey will lead to amber with a real dinosaur paw print and stunning insects of Jurassic period stony in stone stunning in beauty and scientific value.

The exhibition presents the main milestones of the history of amber: from the Paleolithic era, when it was from this mineral that the world’s first jewelry was made, then to amber products of ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, Rome, and amber masterpieces of the Middle Ages of Europe and China. In the exhibition you can see completely unique and unusual pieces of jewelry made from Baltic amber (the international name is succinite). In the interactive part of the “Amber Extraction” exposition, everyone will have an amazing opportunity to get their own piece of amber from 40 to 60 million years old.

In the hall “Amber is the elixir of life”, the secret materials of medieval alchemists and the latest scientific research on the beneficial properties of amber and the succinic acid contained in it are revealed. Here guests will find a demonstration of innovative methods for extracting amber extract using powerful electromagnetic discharges.

The Amber Pyramid will become a bright finale of the exposition, inside which everyone can recharge with amber energy.

The exhibition is accompanied by the futuristic exposition “Amber Shine in Ultraviolet Light”, the lesson “How to Distinguish Natural Amber from Counterfeiting”, a fascinating master class from leading amber processing masters with the ability to independently process a piece of this magical gift of sun and time.

The unique exposition is dedicated to the year of the Stone, which is being held in 2018 at the Museum of DPI in the framework of the “Property of Russia. Traditions for the future. ”

As part of the project, the Moscow State Art and Industry Academy named after S. G. Stroganov, together with the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art and the Amber Museum jewelry holding, will hold a competition of youth jewelry innovations “Amber: between East and West”. The aim of the competition is to popularize Amber as a unique Russian natural material and to train new specialists in the field of design and production of high-quality jewelry from this gift of the sun.
