Exhibition "Under the Sign of the Fire Rooster"

The opening of the exhibition “Under the Sign of the Fire Rooster” will take place in the “Estate of V.P. Sukachev” on January 25. The exposition presents more than 100 exhibits from the funds of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum, united by a common theme - New Year on the Eastern calendar. So the public will see sculptures and figurines from Germany, Denmark, Japan, China, Russia, depicting animals symbolizing the 12-year cycle of the eastern calendar. The exhibits are made of bronze, stone, ceramics, bone and other materials in various techniques and styles. Part of the work was created by unknown authors two or three centuries ago. Among modern names are Dashi Namdakov, Dmitry Budazhabe, Petr Garmaev, Geser Zodboyev.

The exhibition at the museum was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Chinese New Year - the Fiery Rooster will replace the Fiery Monkey on January 28. As part of the opening, visitors will learn about the origin of the 12-year cycle of the eastern calendar, the meaning of animal symbols, as well as cultural traditions and features of the New Year celebration in the East. Guests in the "Estate of V.P. Sukachev" are expected on January 25 at 15.00. By tradition, the entrance to the opening is free.
