Pop Art Exhibition "7 Sins" Roman Reznitsky

The cycle “7 Sins” is a provocative project by Moscow artist Roman Reznitsky, combining 7 paintings in accordance with the Christian tradition: pride, anger, lust, despondency, gluttony, greed and envy. One glance is enough to understand that this series has little in common with the traditional depiction of the seven deadly sins in art, especially in paintings of the Renaissance and Baroque. Bright authorial style and the interpretation of the plot itself may seem to each person an effective demonstration of human vices, and not a moral warning against forbidden passions. Looking at work, I would rather want to yield to temptation than to follow asceticism. The artist himself insists that he does not propagate sinfulness, but is trying to understand what the concept of “seven deadly sins” means for a modern person, is he afraid of punishment, are his thoughts and actions controlled in accordance with the Scriptures. He does not exclude that some manifestations of the human nature have moved from the category of sins to the category of revered and cult. Work on the project took the artist more than a year.
